Burt Malcolm Styler (20 February 1925 – 13 June 2011) was an American screenwriter. His film credits include the Bob Hope comedy Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number! and such popular TV series as The Life of Riley, My Favorite Martian, Mayberry R.F.D., Gilligan's Island, McHale's Navy, M*A*S*H, Chico and the Man, M*A*S*H, The Carol Burnett Show, and Too Close for Comfort. Burt wrote the Season 4 episodes of The Brady Bunch, the Season 1 episode titled "54-40 and Fight", "The Impractical Joker" in Season 2 and "Career Fever" in Season 4.

He wrote or contributed to the teleplay for four episodes of All in the Family: "The Saga of Cousin Oscar" (story / teleplay), "Success Story", "Judging Books by Covers" and Season 2's "Edith's Problem" (story and teleplay), for which Burt won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1972.


Styler died of heart failure in 2011 at the Providence Tarzana Medical Center.[1]
