Short Summary[]

Greg must choose whether to vote for Marcia or his girlfriend for head cheerleader.

Jennifer Nichols, a student at Westdale High, is forthright in her pursuit of Greg, who quickly falls under her seductive charms. Jennifer and "Greggy", as she calls him, have a surfing date on the weekend. He is so preoccupied by thoughts of Jennifer that Greg forgets about a previous doubles golfing engagement that day with Mike and another father-son duo, leaving Mike to scramble for a last minute replacement. Carol, Mike's wannabe alternate, isn't quite who he was expecting. Carol and Mike suspect Jennifer may be dating Greg with an ulterior motive as she and Marcia are both trying out for head cheerleader, and Greg is on the judging committee.

At the tryouts, Marcia gives a decent performance, and another student, Pat Conway, gives a really good performance while Jennifer's performance is comparatively lackluster. Greg has a dilemma when the other three judges each vote for Marcia, Pat, and Jennifer, and he's forced to cast the deciding vote. He later returns home, and tells Mike and Carol about it, and reveals that he cast the deciding vote for neither Jennifer nor Marcia, but for Pat, as he truly believed her to be the best cheerleader. Now, he fears both Jennifer and Marcia will hate him for it. To Greg's surprise, Marcia accepts his decision, as although she did want to be head cheerleader, she agrees that Pat was the better candidate, and Greg made the right decision to vote for her. However, Jennifer dumps Greg, making him realize she was merely using him to win his vote.

  • Although Carol is learning how to play golf, in the first season episode "Vote for Brady" she has a set of clubs and used to play golf all the time.
