Charles Elmer "Rip" Taylor, Jr. (13 January 1935 - 6 October 2019) was an American actor and comedian. He appeared as Jack Merrill, the new boyfriend of Alice in the short-lived ABC music/variety series The Brady Bunch Hour. Taylor entertained audiences worldwide in a career that spanned over fifty years.


A consummate showman, Rip has headlined in Las Vegas, appeared on hundreds of television shows, played the lead in various plays and musicals, and frequently taken a dramatic turn in feature films. It is no exaggeration to say that Rip Taylor has succeeded in every facet of the entertainment industry.

A funny, and talented comedian and actor, Rip has made occasional appearances in movies, usually in broad comedies like the R-rated Deep Throat parody Chatterbox.

In the 1986 film Amazon Women on the Moon, a funeral service turns into a celebrity roast when guest Rip Taylor shows up to "honor" the deceased. In Cheech and Chong's Things Are Tough All Over, Rip picks them up in the middle of nowhere driving a convertible full of props. Rip then proceeds to drive them to Las Vegas and telling jokes the whole way and moving Chong to tears from laughter. In 1993, Taylor also appeared in Tom and Jerry: The Movie as Captain Kiddle, and in Wayne's World 2 opposite film co-stars and SNL alums Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. In 1993's Indecent Proposal which also co-starred Michael Douglas and Robert Redford and Cheers TV series co-star Woody Harrellson, as Demi Moore's boss, without his toupee.
